Reading List: March

March is an airy time. A friend texted: "How are you holding up?" I replied with a "?" And she answered "It's Pisces season."

I've struggled to get grounded this month. The airiness has been good and bad. Plain Alchemy has been incubating and now exists, which is wonderful. And I've been dreaming up lots of other ideas. The energy gets ahead of me, though. My partner says I have a tendency to "steamroll dreams" -- which is a very poetic way of saying I'm emotional bulldozer. So I've been attempting to get grounded during these late winter days/nights. Here are some of the books I've been into:

Codependent No More by Melody Beattie. Recommended to me by Lacy Phillips of Free + Native and totally life changing.

Everything by the wonderful and not-well-known-enough writer Anna Kavan. Some favorite titles include: Who Are You? / Ice / Julia and the Bazooka.

The Complete Madame Realism and Other Stories by Lynne Tillman. A playful fiction/essay combo. Madame Realism is our witty guide through art history and culture.

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown. I keep coming back to this, and have a post devoted to it. Title says it all.

Nonviolent Communication. Words matter.
