Some reads, images, and shows I'm thinking about this week.
Helen Mirra's Terrapin (2007), which is pictured above, is a sculpture I come back to on repeat. Two cotton shirts. A granite rock. Casein paint. It's the image of mindful minimalism and groundedness that comes back to me during busy moments and meditation. I love this sculpture.
Excited about the Vija Celmins exhibition, which closes on April 22nd.
Egyptian Blue was the first synthetic pigment. More here.
I am always fascinated and horrified reading about hysteria, witches, and the "treatments" that were forced on women back in the day. Some new light on the classic story "The Yellow Wallpaper."
